  Very memorable Amazon experience - We had the 4 days and 3 nights package and it was an absolutely fantastic experience, a lot of it thanks to our wonderful guide Ronald Silva. His knowledge, experience... read more and attention to details allowed us to see and learn a lot about the birds, animals, reptiles, amphibians and plants of the rain forest. Our days were very well planned to get the maximum out of our stay but in the same time these were not too intensive so our 5Y old daughter was able also enjoy the experience. She is still talking about the hikes and boat rides she took and all the wildlife she saw. Being a hobby nature photographer I was able to capture photos of so many bird and animal species that it really exceeded my expectations. I loved that the groups are kept small (ours was 7-9 people) so there is a bigger chance to see wildlife. And staying by the lagoon in my opinion has a lot of advantages compared to the lodges by the river.
Bamboo lodge itself is a high quality establishment - the service was impeccable, the food really tasty and the rooms large and comfortable. They also have a bird (and monkey) watching tower that is a great place to spot the wildlife yourself.
Transfer from and to Quito is long but it's all worth it and it can be very conveniently organized while booking the trip. So all in all I would definitely recommend Bamboo Lodge and I would say that the 4-days & 3 nights package is the absolute minimum to get an overview of the Ecuador Amazon.

For observing true untouched wildlife, this is an absolute must do!! We’d also like to thank our incredible guide Luis for his endless enthusiasm, but above all his incredible knowledge and expertise of the Amazon. More times than we could count he spotted the most camouflaged animals we’ve ever seen. Furthermore, the lodge is very modern and equipped well. On our last night, we encountered an animal in our room (not uncommon in the Amazon) and without hesitation we’re provided another room that made us feel more comfortable. We can only recommend the same 4-night, 5-day stay at the lodge as you will be more than entertained through all of the days.

Everything was really well organised and we saw so much wildlife (sloths, pink dolphins, monkeys, anaconda, caimans and lots more). It really was a once in a lifetime experience and a definite highlight of our trip to Ecuador. We stayed 2 nights but if we had longer to plan, I would recommend staying at least 3 as it is a long journey there.

The overnight bus from Quito is not run by the lodge but they can organise it for you. Although the service ran smoothly in terms of timings, if you can afford it I would consider taking a flight instead. The night bus was a little scary in parts as the driving was very fast, the driver went around corners on the wrong side of the road in the dark, and we were often bounced fully out of our seats, so sleeping was difficult! Just a tip if you have the money to fly instead.
